Tension Building

...geez. With all this happening right before finals... Dropping out seems like such an easy solution but I know that would be giving up...

It's so much easier focusing on artwork than it is for liberal classes when you think you have a talker following you. I feel like I have a constant uneasy tension in my chest and its hasn't subsided even a little bit. I don't want to be me anymore.

Dishonesty

So I had a pretty weird encounter last night....

I was listening to my music minding my own business...probably around 11pm... when I was jolted to hear a charp crack noise at my window...someone was throwing their keys at my window trying to get my attention...

eventually I peered out my window and was shocked to see someone who I haven't seen in 2 years

"Pat!?"

Yeah what? Why now? Why come to see me NOW? After so long??

So apparently he just wanted to talk a little bit since "he was in the neighborhood".

Okkkkkk.....

Pat and I were pretty good friends when I was working at Petco and I only saw him as just that, A FRIEND. However as time passed on he wanted to push it into a romantic relationship... however I was dating Adam. So naturally I told him no, and after that I began to get a cold shoulder from him and once I finally left petco we stopped talking altogether. Figures.

So here he is now. We talked a bit, caught up with what each other was doing, being polite.... and then he landed the bomb wanting to know where we stood. Ah. So THAT's why you "were in the neighborhood".

I made a mistake... it seems I still have problems telling people up front I need to burn the bridge, and let them know its not ok, not after what you pressured me into doing and now pressuring me to do NOW. But I didn't. Shame on me for not being honest with him and myself. I said we could at least be friends. Stupid woman. You have to be more assertive...and not worry so much about hurting someone's feelings.

So now I have to call him later and tell him NO....its NOT ok... I don't think its ever going to be OK to be friends again since you were hitting on me regardless of the fact you knew I had a boyfriend. AND! Even AFTER I told you I'm STILL with him that night you say you at least want to be friends.

Back from Chicago!

Shame on me for not updating this thing.

Wellll I had a great time in Chicago. The boyfriend-parent-meeting went really well! :D Maybe they'll consider letting him room with me sometime?....maybe?....possibly?..... though he might wanna jump the sack when I'm trying to do a paper so maybe...thats...not the greatest.... ANYWAY!

I really think the best time to visit Chicago is in August. Throughout all my visits there I think that was the best month to go since the weather was so nice. Didn't feel like I was walking through a sauna and the wind didn't feel like a bunch of needles stabbing my face! So yeah!

Stuffed my face of course. I can't deny such good food... Oh! Speaking of food (sorta on subject) I had an awesome Rose Champagne on the Trump Tower Balcony. Awesome view and the taste of the champagne was delicious!

Also got a chance to walk around the Art Institute. Well...I only got maybe 1/3 of the way through since the PLACE WAS SO DAMN BIG! It was really amazing to see some Rodan and Monet paintings...some japanese screens, India's statues and jewelry, it was just fantastic. I have to make time for sure on my next visit to see more in there.

- Pierre-Paul Prud'hon
"Innocence Prefers Love to Riches"

- James McArdell
"Time Clipping the Wings of Love"

- Theodore Rousseau
"View of Saleve, Near Geneva"

XXXXX

- Jean-Francois Millet
"In the Auvergne"

- Jules-Adolphe Breton
"The Song of the Lark"

- William-Adolphe Bouguerau
"The Bathers"

I would love to have this in my bathroom.
In San Jose now. Got to visit a bit with my older sister. <3

The weather is pretty much the same as SoCal. Definitely sunscreen weather.

on a side note... wow... my alcohol tolerance has plummeted... Dean's Melon Martini... only a shot and a half of vodka got me tipsy.... ;_;

World of Warcraft Museum Exhibit

Took a nice walk in Laguna Beach today. The sun was blazing of course so I didn't stay out for too long, but it was pretty nice. I took a peek into the Laguna Art Museum just to see what they had and apparently Mike S. works there in the summer. o_o Totally wasn't prepared for that. The second surprise that I came across was that the museum apparently was having a big WOW exhibit. Yes. The Blizzard game.

It was pretty awesome. They had a couple of rooms set up with huge posters and sculptures of game characters and the like. Even had some huge paintings of Night Elves and Human characters with a sort of rough texture to it that I like.

If anyone is in the area and likes WOW I highly recommend taking a peek into the museum. ;)

KUKUKUKUKU.... >D

Want to Prevent Colds? Have Sex Weekly
By Michael Castleman on June 1, 2009 - 4:16pm in All About Sex
How many times have you heard or said: "Don't kiss me. I have a cold." It makes sense. Close contact spreads colds, so avoiding physical intimacy with cold sufferers should be a sensible way to avoid humanity's most common illness. But a study at Wilkes-Barre University in Pennsylvania shows the opposite, that the close contact of lovemaking reduces risk of colds.

Psychologists Carl Charnetski, Ph.D., and Francis Brennan, Jr., Ph.D., asked 111 college students (44 men, 67 women) their frequency of partner sex: none, less than once a week, once or twice a week, or three or more times a week.

Then the students provided saliva samples. Saliva contains immunoglobulin A (IgA), the body's first line of defense against cold viruses. The more IgA in your saliva, the less likely you are to catch colds.

The once-or-twice-a-week group had the highest levels of IgA, and enjoyed the most protection from colds. This group had 30 percent more IgA than the two groups who had less frequent sex and the group that had sex more often (too much of a good thing).

The researchers also surveyed participants about relationship duration and satisfaction. As duration and satisfaction increased, so did IgA level.

Why would frequent sex in a happy, long-term relationship help prevent colds? It's counterintuitive. Close contact should increase the likelihood of cold transmission--unless interpersonal closeness provides benefits that override the risk of physical proximity. Indeed, a happy, sexually active relationship provides two significant immunological benefits--relaxation and social support.

In good relationships, lovemaking is deeply relaxing. Many studies show that deep relaxation, the kind that results from meditation or visualization/guided imagery, stimulates the immune system. Psychologists at Washington State University took blood samples from 65 people and counted their number of infection-fighting white blood cells. Then the group watched a video that described the immune system. One-third of them did nothing else. Another third was taught to meditate, and practiced twice a day. The final third learned to visualize their immune systems growing stronger, and practiced that visualization twice a day. A week later, the researchers obtained new blood samples. The control group experienced no increase in white cells. But both the meditation and visualization groups did.

Lovemaking is also a powerful form of social support. Many studies show that social support revs up the immune system, and helps prevent colds. At the University of Pittsburgh, psychologist Sheldon Cohen, Ph.D., studied 276 healthy volunteers, who completed a survey of their social ties-to lovers, friends, family, and organizations-and then had live cold virus squirted up their noses. Those with the most social support were least likely to catch the cold.

Which brings us back to the Wilkes-Barre study showing a significant cold-preventive effect for sex once or twice a week in a satisfying, long-term relationship. People often say, "Not tonight, dear, I feel a cold coming on." It's time to update that sentiment: "I feel a cold coming on. Let's do it."
